Organization junkie-how do you keep your stuff?

At my hospital, we each get a computer on wheels that is ours for the shift. Some nurses have Velcro bags with lots of goodies hanging off of it. Some have bags sitting on top. Some have a clipboard storage box. Others have 1000 pockets.

How do you keep yourself organized during your shift? What are your must haves and why?

I love finding new ways to organize my things, almost as much as I love finding new things to make my life easier.

*Bonus question. What do you keep in your locker?

I'm an APN but have a backpack that goes everywhere with me as I travel between clinics during the day. I keep my computer, cords, stethoscope, hand sanitizer, some med samples, bottle of water, pens (lots of them), wallet, business cards and sometimes my lunch.

I usually keep my stethoscope on my computer. Left pocket generally has supplies (alcohol, scissors). Right pocket is 'personal' stuff - cell phone, chapstick.. Clipboard with pen (attached via tether). Stuff in pockets vary depending on where I am and what supplies I anticipate needing.

I used to make up my own "brain", but found printing the "Clinical Snapshot" on Cerner/PowerChart something more useful to write on.

I'm float pool. Please, tell me more about this "locker" you speak of ;D

(I used to keep some food (soup can, noodles), some random nursing resources (drugs/medical spanish), a spare set of scrubs and a drawer to dump all of my supplies pocket stuff).

Luckily my ICU has well-stocked patient supply carts in each room. I like to keep pens, alcohol swabs, scissors, lip balm and the brain sheet in my pockets. My work bag stays in the breakroom, and it stores my OTC meds, phone and lunch.
