My hospital is just changing over to a physician order entry program. All physician orders will have to be typed in on a computer. They are attempting to do away with verbal orders. Unfortuantely without computers at the bedside we will have to check our printer for routine orders because they won't be written in the chart. Just curious if this is what other hospitals do.

I saw it when I worked at a large teaching hospital in my state. It was a hassel to have to check the printer, but the orders were legible! The computer also assisted with not missing labs to be drawn.
Bottom line, it worked quite well. I loved it!
