Any experience on an OPS (Other Personnel Services) position in the State of Florida, specifically nursing?

The phone interviewer said that there was no sick leave. I would be working with HIV/STD patients. I've only missed two days of work in my year of employment at my current company but it was because I had a stomach bug and fever on one day and then verifiable Flu on another. I really want this job but I'm concerned about coming to work ill and being around a vulnerable patient population.

No benefits is fine because I can pick up my husband's benefits. We don't vacation much, but I'd be concerned about being unable to take vacation. Unpaid holidays are no issue.

Any feedback from Public Health nurses in general would also be appreciated.

A State position without benefits? Sounds strange.

A State position without benefits? Sounds strange.

Perhaps this is a position that gets public funds, but not a state position. Sounds ok as a temporary position if you don't need benefits. Perhaps no paid vacation, but surely you can take some requested time off or vacation. Perhaps the pay makes up for lack of benefits. IF no to all, I would consider only on a transitional basis until something better comes up if you are just moving into the Fl area.
