Online ADN Programs

Hi,

I am from Pennsylvania and am looking for an online ADN program. I am aware of one called Southside Regional Medical Center, they are based in VIrginia but allow you to do your clinicals at any CHS hospital. I am looking for another program like that one. Does anybody know of any?

I have completed some pre-requisite courses and also I am a CNA, do you think that qualifies me for any special admission anywhere? I know excelsior college allows students to do things online if they are something certified....except CNA that is!!! Just my like right?

Anyway, if anybody knows of any, please let me know! Thank you so much.

Good luck... I never found any!

i've never heard of a online CNA to ADN program.. you need the clinicals and other tortous things they put you through to meet state requirements to sit for boards,,, which is another torture, you'll get to enjoy... keep me posted if you find anything... i had to get through the enjoyment of nursing school ( blech) , and would hate for anyone to miss out... lol

I could not imagine nursing school being online. It is hell in the classroom -- could not imagine it online. Furthermore, I bet it would do many students a huge injustice because I guarantee there would be many students who could potentially use their books/notes during online exams and when it came time for the NCLEX, they would probably be quite behind.

Well I know the one online program that I do know of they have clinicals at any CHS hospital, so if you did the online program you went to clinicals at one of those hospitals and actually i heard those students do better because it is a stronger clinical focus rather than on the books.

Maybe someone who has taken it can advise whether or not the NCLEX is more geared towards clinical experiences or theory? My understanding is that it is more theory-focused.

The NCLEX I took back in the dinosaur days was more theory based.

I do not think that on line/correspondence nursing courses are a good idea unless it's an LVN-RN bridge or ADN-BSN bridge. When you have no nursing experience (being a CNA is a good start and you are an important part of the team, but CNA experience does NOT equal nursing experience) you need the structure of a formal clinical with an instructor right there.

I agree.
