Hi all! Just wanted to say, I will read posts, but will not be responding for awhile. It has been "one hell of a ride" but I Can NOT pretend all is rosy and beautiful anymore. I am tired. I cant help with homework online or at work. dang it, I looked stuff up in books, or double checked my notes. I didnt expect it, I didnt feel i deserved it. I did what I had to do- back in the day. I know you all dont "want" to work weekends or xmas or whatever- dang it, I HAD to. I worked HARD to get where I am today. Gosh I wish you could have walked even one block in my shoes....... So, all of you new grads and students and all of you who are wearing rose colored glasses, please, have a beautiful wonderful save the world kinda life... but hey, update me in a few years... No insults meant, just too damn tired to deal with "help me with my homework" anymore... Unless it is a grandbaby who is in 2nd grade...

You sound jaded...retire for the sake of the nursing profession!

Meh, people will continue to use any website or anybody they possibly can to "assist" with getting the homework completed. Not anything new I am afraid. Additionally, no body wants to work weekends and holidays, yet here I am well into a career and I see that I will be pulling a 24 on Christmas this year.

Hey, there will always be people with a sense of entitlement; however, there are many people willing to work hard just to get a job. Let us not loose perspective. All is not rosy and I can say I totally disagree with many of the people on this site and walk away shaking my head. However, it sure is fun getting into the fray, even if it means I have a few wounds to lick at the end of the day.

Mark you calendars boys and girls because uncle Gila is about to have a rare moment of quasi compassion:

I tend to give students these days a bit of latitude. Nursing education is a mess and students these days will be fighting an up hill battle just to survive their first year. At least I can say I had a great education and was somewhat prepared when I was a new grad. Kids these days, it's a rough world. So, give em a bit of a break and let other people tell the students to find the answers utilizing Google skillz, usually.

Sorry you are suffering from burn out. I personally like helping the new grads. I wish I would have had this board years ago.

You decided this based on one post? Hey, we all have bad days and you have to agree, students coming to this site asking to have their homework answered is generally a bit annoying.

Students DO come here for help w/assignments; they usually don't expect us to do the work for them, just head them in the right direction.

If you don't want to help a student, or read someone's whiny rant about having to work weekends, nights, etc., you certainly don't have to read those threads.

There's plenty of other stuff to enjoy on allnurses, and we hope you are able to find a niche you like.

Best Wishes.

i don't mind helping students, but i think they learn more doing it on their own and checking with us.. i did all my own homework and index cards in nursing school , i think you learn more doing it yourself. i have been a nurse for a long time and i love helping students at work and if i can here. maybe i sound "jaded" but i have 6 kids and i tell them all the time" do your math or write your report yourself first and dad and i will look it over .. but that's how i roll..lol...

bottom line is you need to do it yourself first and learn , then run it by us and we can help you... it's okay to choose not to help other's with their homework , that's egglady's choice, her feelings are valid and thats how she feels.. so let her feel that way.. maybe she has alot going on her life or maybe she just dosen't want to help with homework anymore.... that's her choice and i think we should respect it... she's not a bad person or jaded because she feels that way.. thats how she feels .. and that's fine with me...

Lol hey! I am not a rn yet, I do not even have my ged yet but personaly, I wouldn't mind working sat and sun if I had mon - friday off, I also wouldn't mind working christmas neather, I actualy would love working a christmas, I would try to make every patient in the hospital smile at least once while making them feel 100% the best of my abilty giving the situation, When it comes to scheduals the thing that I dislike most would be having to work days that are all seperated such as mon, wed, friday, I really dislike the spreading out, I like having days all together like mon, tues, wed, then have thurs, fri, sat, and sun off that is just a example, I wish you all the best and I hope you feel much better about everything in the future.

Yes it has been a wonderful ride, it was (is) a ride with many peaks and valleys. As is all aspects of life. Working in my 5th decade and looking forward to my 6th.

Not everyone burns out and when I asked one of my early mentors what I could do to repay her; she said, when it was my time to be a mentor to pass on all the wisdom my experience to the newly entering RN. One of her wisdom's was it was our professional responsibility and duty to help and mentor the newbies.http://images.allnurses.com/smilies/added/redbeatheart.gif

i love teaching....that said......i abhor the laziness embodied in the post that is basically "what is the answer to this question?"......SHOW me what you have done, and we can take it forward from there....
