Not to rain on your parade, but I can't think of anything I'd less like to do. When would you like me to go hunt down these people? During my non-existent break? I think it'd be bad publicity for the hospital to have someone die because their nurse was off the floor participating in a scavenger hunt. Plus, if you don't work the same shift as the designated people, you can't participate even if you wanted to.

Specializes in ICU.

All I want for nurses week is in this order: 1.) money 2.) free PTO and the opportunity to actually use it.

If none of those are possible just deliver some pizza to the unit and go away.

I'd rather have the pony ride than get a backpack (cup, lunch bag or ballpoint pen) with the hospital logo on it that all other departments also get so they won't be jealous that the nurses get all the recognition and xray or housekeeping get left out. Don't want to ever see the little red wagon full of leftover Halloween candy that the CEO and VP for nursing trundle around to every department and we are allowed to select 2. "Just 2 please!" Don't want a 50% off lunch coupon either if all they're serving for lunch today is dried up hot dogs and peas and carrots out of a can and you get to the cafeteria at 1:03 and the coupon expired at 1:00.

My, someone's not in a festive mood! You probably wouldn't like the balloons or the clown, either.

I think you should set up a dunk tank and sit on it for the day. Every nurse gets unlimited tries to dunk you.

Let's make it hospital themed. We can color the water yellow for urine or red for blood? What do you think?

Nurses can throw ice packs.

Or...

We can play pin the tail on the donkey. You would be a great donkey. It would be loads of fun.

Well, I did agree to ride the pony! Don't even get me started on the Viagra pens the drug reps left and the little cups of vanilla ice cream you have to eat with a stick.

If you'd like a good activity, how about having people take over patient care for an actual, uninterrupted lunch break? Our facility always has a big lunch/dinner and you know who's at it? Management. (Nothing against managers, just sayin') Then they come up to the floor after all is said and done and are like "Gosh, why didn't you come down for our awesome meal we put together?"

I think we work together! This happens Every.Single.Time. !!

Does anyone remember the CORN BAR that someome posted about one year, in a Nurse's Week thread? I'd honestly rather have a corn bar than a scavenger hunt !

I'd rather have a bar bar. Wait, does the corn come in a bottle?

Yes, it's documented in a song by Luke Bryan...

"Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey

Whiskey makes my baby, feel a little frisky"
