It's interesting how Coca-Cola used nurses images to sell their product. Pretty clear that Coke used the trustworthiness of nurses to sell Coke.

Cheap and easy, they didn't have to pay big bucks for a paid endorsement like Bill Cosby or other celebrities.

I take a 2 liter of pop and keep it in the fridge at work, it lasts 3 shifts, lol. Forget that wimpy bottle size.

In the olden times, when I was a child, the correct medication for any upset tummy was coke or even better coke syrup.

I had forgotten that coke syrup was used for nausea and GI distress!

I think that gal w/the Pepsi is a "pink lady" aka volunteer.

I'm enjoying these ads. Thanks for posting.

Interesting. I had a patient demand a Coke "Right NOW, I hate water!" today. I told him to let me know when he found one so I could get one too, and continued on with my business.

Once, when I lived alone, I had the flu and my Dad came by to check on me, bringing a couple cans of chicken noodle and a cold 2L coke--no diet, the real stuff. Neither manna from heaven nor ambrosia from Olympus could have tasted better than that coke.

It doesn't bother me to fetch soft drinks or coffee for patients or their visitors. It bothers me that a lot of times I don't have time to offer.

Coca-Cola was probably more therapeutic back then when it was made with sugar and in smaller bottles, not the crap they sell today made with high fructose corn syrup!

Can't get a Coke at any Cleveland Clinic facility. Not a regular Coke anyways. Everything is diet.

All of these demonstrated the view of the public in our beloved profession from a gone era, and Coca Cola knew that their patrons would relate to a nurse. In addition, back then they believed that Coca Cola was the cure for several ailments. Following this further, Coca Cola was aware to place a trustworthy image like nurses in their campaign, as one can appreciate there's no image of a doctor. In other words, if a nurse drinks Coke it must be good for you; and it worked. Lastly, everyone can appreciate the uniforms from back them like the ones tnbutterfly displayed, I can only imagine how uncomfortable they must have been at the end of their shift; when I can't wait to get home and take my scrubs off.

Funny how nurses are depicted happy with a toxic, sugary beverage. Smile, more diabetic patients!
