Will my NJ RN license get reciprocity in Florida. I will be moving soon and would like to know the procedure for transferring license. Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to allnurses.com!

You will have to apply to the Florida BON for endorsement. They are known to be slow so I would advise starting the process right away...........

No, you don't have to give up your New Jersey license when you apply for a Florida license. The only thing I would tell you is make sure notify the NJ State Board of Nsg of your new address once you move down here to Florida, otherwise you will not get your renewal notice for NJ. Apply as soon as you can because Fl State Board is not the fastest at getting your license moving. Good luck with the move. Do you have a job, and where will you be moving to? flaerman

Thank you for the information. We are moving to Marco Island and I am a former OR and school nurse but I want to keep mylicense going.

Are you going to continue to work? School nursing does not pay that well, here in Florida. And I'm not sure if Naples Community has an OB unit. If not, the nearest one is a Lee Memorial in Ft. Myers. Keep your NJ license active, just notify them of your change of address. Florida has manadtory CEUs, 24 hours per renewal period. You must have the HIV and Domestic Violence, one done here, to get your license. You are allowed six months to obtain it. Go to the Collier Vo-tech, they offer the classes.

I lived here for twenty years and kept my NYS license active all of the time. I allowed my Florida one to laspe, when I moved back up north, in 2000. Florida now list my license as revoked. They have a funny term for lasped. And it will cost you more then $200 to get your endorsement, plus fingerprints and a criminal background check. All of which must be submitted prior to them getting your scores from NJ.

Have fun.

hey i had a question in regards to reciprocity between NJ and FL....i am a resident of NJ but am planning to attend a BSN program in FL....once i have my BSN from the accredited college in FL (remington) will i be able to register to take my NCLEX-RN in NJ instead....or will i be limited to taking the exam in FL? and if so, can my license be reciprocated/endorsed to NJ?
