New salary for job converting to per diem

Hi All,

My job is transitioning to per diem for 2 months as I was asked to stay beyond my resignation date. I am switching to per diem as I need to change to my husband's benefits and the only way to do so is to switch to a per diem position. I've never worked per diem though so I need some pointers as to how to set up this situation. I'll be doing the same job for mostly full-time hours during these 2 months (there are a few dates I cannot work).

My main question is should I ask for a higher salary? I will be losing health, vacation & 401k contributions so it feels like I should ask for a higher hourly rate than my current salaried position. How much higher? 15%? 20%?

Thanks for any help!

You have accepted a per diem position. Your status change should have been already arranged through human resources.

You need discuss this with HR. You should get the pay rate that any other per diem nurse receives.

Just wanted to note the situation is not finalized and I have not yet accepted the per diem position. A per diem position was proposed though no specifics have been given. I directly asked my boss if there was someone in HR I could speak to about the changes and was told there was no one in HR I could speak with and everything was to go through my boss (I wasn't too happy with that response)...
