New Hire and Hep B vaccine

Hello I am a new graduated RN and I just got hired at Mount Sinai NYC.I am starting next month and I have the physical at the end of the month. I was wondering if there is a problem (hire wise) if you recieved the Hep B vaccine in the past but have not developed immunity? Will the hospital offer it to you or should I go ahead and get the 1st dose of the vaccine? Thanks for your advise.

Depends how many you've had usually. I did not seroconvert after 1 course, but did after a second course. i would want to know that I was covered for it! And you should be able to get it free from your employer.

Like ghillbert, I didn't seroconvert after the first course. But did after the second. I've always be been told that Hep is a much greater likelihood in the medical field than other ailments, so better safe than sorry. JMTC

It should not be a problem for hire. Example. I was given hep b series at the first hospital I worked at. Several years later I moved to another state, gave them the dates of all my former vacinations including hep b series. Upon further testing, no I had no seroconverted so they simply did a second series. It was all done in employee health so there was no cost to myself.

Now I am good to go.
