New grad job search and tuition payment

So I'll be graduating soon and I can't help but worry if I'll find a job when I graduate! I really want to work in mental health and plan on later getting my PMHNP degree but how can I get a job in the field as a new grad nurse in NYC. How would I try searching for some? I've tried looking but most require work experience. Most jobs in any field require work experience which I can't get unless I get a job.

So where do new grads in NYC work?

Also are there any hospitals or programs that pay for continuing education? Like pay for tuition in exchange for work? I only know of NYP and langone paying some towards tuition but not much.

bump, just checking in

You might need to relocate upstate if you want hospital employment. Unfortunately, the nursing employment market in NYC has been horrid to new grad nurses for several years already.

Then you may have to accept any job you can get, whether it's your preferred specialty or not. Many areas are seeing an employer's market these days where there are far more qualified applicants than available positions.

Personally, I wasted several months only applying for acute care hospital jobs. Later, I saw how people I knew also applied for home health, flu clinics, even short term gigs via Craigslist. They then had more experience than I did and had something to talk about during interviews.
