I'm graduating in a month and trying to find the best area to start...I've been offered the following positions:

Advanced Cardiac Care Unit - Critical Care

Renal/GU/Med-surg

Surgical step-down

3 different hospitals, one on nights and the other two day shift.

Im torn and just don't know what area is best to start in as a new GN.

"Best" varies greatly from person to person. What shift do you prefer? What area are you interested in? What are your long term goals?

I'm undecided. Long-term I would like to work in the ED, but I don't prefer night shift to start. I'm torn between all the talk of starting on nights vs. days. I've met many seasoned nurses who started on days and they survived. Cardiac is interesting but seems to limit myself. The step-down Unit is ideal, but so many negative reviews for the hospital it's located at. I'm just not sure...

Once you do Cardiac ICU, you can go almost anywhere. Some consider it the crown jewel of specialties.
