Need Help With Heart Sounds?

When I was in nursing school, I read about the various heart sounds, what they indicate, and how to listen for them. I read about them and read about them and, although I understood that S3 and S4 were different sounds with different causes, I still couldn't distinguish between them on an exam. I finally decided there must be a better way to memorize this content and I created some helpful mnemonics to help remember and make sense of the normal and abnormal heart sounds. After using these mnemonics, I never hesitated between them on another exam.

I want to share this information with other nurses and nursing students, so that you can also memorize the normal and abnormal heart sounds once and for all! These will come up on nursing exams, the NCLEX, and nursing certification exams like the CCRN.

In this video, I go over the normal and abnormal heart sounds (S1, S2, S3, and S4) Most importantly, I provide helpful study hacks and memory tricks so that you will never forget what you learn!

Love the video, very helpful. Continue the good work!

Thank you so much for this! I just started school last week and am so overwhelmed. I feel more a bit more comfortable and less freaked out about this particular topic. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks again!!! You really made a difference for me.
