Hi

I am an Rn (associates) have worked for 6 yrs in a rehabilitation hospital. Looking to find job in m/s or tele position.. no luck, mainly per diem positions. Considering obtaining BSN but unsure how to go about, need to work 40hrs at my current job to keep my benefits. Any advice if I should continue looking for another position or how to get benefits and go for my BSN.

If you would be willing to work overtime, you could sign up with an agency and check out the hospitals that way. I believe they test you and give you training on specific things you might need or want reinforcement in. Any way its an easy way to get your foot in the day, check a place out, meet people and find out if you'd like to work for them.

Then if a job opened up you might be the first to know and can use those connections to get the job. I've known lots of coworkers who did this and then took permanent positions at the hospital of their choosing.

The only drawback would be cutting into your personal time, but it might be worth it to you in the long run.

Would be cheaper then quitting and going back to school. I wouldn't recommend that in this economy and why go backwards without pay and student loans if you don't need to.

Thanks for the advice, I just don't like the idea of one day being in one hospital then in a completely different one!
