Navy reserve nurse corps

Nurses General Nursing

Hello. I am currently in the process of joining the navy reserve nurse corps part time. I have BSN in nursing and almost finished with the Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN). I am currently in the process of joining the navy reserve nurse corps but would like to clarify some things. I heard that the requirement is 1 weekend a month , 2 weeks per year. With this I can keep my full time job and take care of my family if that is the only requirement. But then I was reading somewhere on the government website that there is a possibility of deployment after 1 year. I am not sure if this is for full time reserve or part time. This deployment can last up to 120 days. Is this correct?

I wanted to join the military because of my brother who served in Iraq. I want to work side by side with veterans and help treat them in times of need. But unfortunately I can not leave home too long. Can navy reserve nurse corps be deployed when there is a shortage? How often does this happen?

Thank you.
