Nurses General Nursing

Can anyone give an a list of different national nursing certifications? If I have one I can replace it with a class for my BSN. Is CCRN one? Do you have to be a critical care nurse for a specific amount of time in order to get certified? Is there one I can get without experience as a nurse?

  • Lists of American speciality certification exams are available at American nurses credentialing center (ANCC) and Center for nursing education and testing (C-NET)
  • Some universities accept specility certification as credit towards a BScN in lieu of a nursing practice course
  • Eligibility criteria for most speciality certification exams is a minimum of 2 years registered nursing experience in the speciality

Specializes in NICU.

I think the point of allowing this substitution is probably that a certification represents a certain level of experience already obtained. It's not a "get out of class free" card.
