I am working on a research paper and have to come up with 10 NANDA diagnosis for a neurodegenerative disorder called "Neuronal Migration Disorder." I was wondering if anyone had any input on what NANDA diagnosis they would use. I had submitted a question before and it was very helpful to have the input I got.

We all have done major research papers totally on our own.

This will take a lot from you to complete, and it will reflect what you are capable of.

This is a journey you will have to take all on your own. Good luck, and get down to it.

(time to log-off of Allnurses.... that's an order!!:))

I am not looking for all the answers, merely an indication of which directions to look in. It is a paper I don't mind writing. I didn't want exact answers here, just suggestions. It is ultimately up to me to decide which to consider and investigate further and which to exclude. Also, I am not always looming over Allnurses, I sometimes stay logged on but am not on Allnurses at all. Tonight for instance this is the first time I checked it all evening but instead have been deep in research mode other places, not on here.

Thank you though for your input.

Who ever came up with NANDA had WAY too much time on his/ her hands.

Well, that's just it. That's the part that shows how well you can do it. You start down a path from what you initially believe is a good topic, then, maybe as you put in some hours you find you cannot support your topic as you need to. Then you have to stop and regroup/restart to make up the time you lost... this is the part that's hard. If someone coached you on this part, you would not have to do much work at all. I had one that I found I had to quick regroup as I just knew things were pretty weak. I had to start again and double time. You will realize it yourself as you go, and it's up to you to figure out if you have strong evidence or not, and when to cut the rope.

I did a quick Google on this one, because I had never heard of it. Frankly, I am uncomfortable with the idea of fitting nursing diagnoses to medical diagnoses in the absense of nursing assessment information. (Seems to miss the point.) But from the little I read, you would want to target your nursing diagnoses to the specific problems most likely to be encountered encountered with the disorder.

In addition, if you are looking at this as a pediatric diagnosis, you may want to look at family issues of dealing with a disabled child, etc.

Good luck!
