I have been working med/surg/trauma for awhile now, and I have been looking to become a ER RN. I got one interview for ER but never got the job. I don't know what I should do to get a position in this department? I have my ACLS PALS and BART? I am really frustrated that ALL the ER JObs around here want you to have 1-2 years experience in ER. Well, I can't get a ER job so I get no experience. Any Advice?

How long is "awhile?"

Talk to the NM of the ED where you work and see if you can pick up some extra shifts there for the experience. Also apply to other hospitals as PRN in the ED for the experience. You should have an easier time of getting a job once you have spent some time there.

You could also try looking into ER preceptorships at your local hospitals. They'll train although they may require a work commitment.
