I am interested in what people out there are making per hour as an LPN and also what state you work in. What you started out at after graduation vs. now with some experience would be great too. Thanks a lot for sharing!

I started as a GPN (Thats Pre-Boards & Post-Grad) on a Vent unit making $12.00hr.After I took & passed my boards they upped me to $13.50hr. Having been there now for 16 months I am currently making $14.86hr. I do everything the RNs do with the exception of hanging the first IV Med bag & IV push meds.I also work Per Diem at a LTC facility & earn & $17.63 there. This is in upstate NY.

I am a nurse manager at a Family Practice Residency Program. I am also interested and am doing a community survey right now on LPN pay, especially for office nurses. Our pay range for Lpn's currently in our practice is between $11.00 and $14.90 per hour.

I would also appreciate any response to this question.

I am an LPN in rural missouri; night charge nurse,a skilled care facility, IV certified, supervisor of 4-6 employees, I can do everything an RN does but push meds IV.I am in contact with the Doctors overnight and make recommendations about my clients to them.I make a whopping $9.66 per hour and the night weekend shift differential is a whopping 50 cents. I am currently attempting to get my RN and have been pushing for increase in shift differentials and weekend pay scales. The administrators wonder why they can't get anyone to work nights or weekends...duh! I think nurses and schoolteachers have the biggest responsibilities in the world and they are the underdogs financially.!! sue_rehn

i have worked at the county hospital in las vegas for a little over 10 years and i am at 17.63/hr. we just had a class and comp survey which raised our rates or else i was stuck with a top out of 14.63/hr. (not counting cost of living raises). now my top out is 21 something /hr but the raise sytstem is so screwed up. you can get up to 6% annually but the way the eval is worded gets you less than 4%. ther is no way to exceed in every area the way they have it. we have perdium cnas making more than newer lpns who are full time.did anyone else have a class and comp study done? me as an lpn--i do the exact same thing as the floor rns on our rehab unit except initial assessments, flushing picc lines, and signing after an lpn--which most just sign --don't reassess.we have to do our own heplocks, svns, ekgs, and transport to x-ray. plus we have to make sure all the patients are fed and taken care of and the therapists want to dictate to us when they want the pt. dressed and waiting for them in the chair. they even shut down therapies when they want for staff parties stating they can make up the hours. of course nursing is the only one not to attend these parties--someone has to care for the pt. please stop me. i can go on and on. sorry. j

I am currently in Chicago working in Hazel Crest which is in the south suburbs of Illinois starting pay for LPN's at the hospital I work is 15.00 an hour base pay with shift differentials....I am currently working in house registry for this hospital and the base pay is 18.00 an hour for days 19.25 for evenings and 20.25 for nights but this is with no benefits. on staff LPN's get 15.oo and hour for days 16.25 for evenings and 17.50 for nights with benefits depending upon your level of hours I hope this is helpful information.....I agree LPN's do not get the respect nor the pay for thier services I am currently taking classes for my BSN now but I have climbed the pay scale ladder as well....starting out at 11.00 an hour as a new grad from LPN school.

I have been an lpn for 25 years my first job(hospital) I started out at 5.00 an hr. Now I do home health shifts not visits, I work through a hospital and make 17.50 an hour but i have health insurance, dental, life, paid vacation, sick days, pre paid legal, not too bad.

My interest has been peaked! What do you mean when you say you do home health shifts? Is this like private duty? Just curious..:-).

Heloooooo.I am an LPN on a Medical floor and I make $78.89 per hour canadian........................................................made you look .OK I lied. I make top wages for an LPN which is $20.65. I can make extra but it means wearing tassels and ill-fitting shoes on Wednesdays, selling pencils in a colorful display case.Sure, fun you say, but it is too hard on my bunions, and I keep getting my tassels tangled.I guess I'll have to skip Wednesdays :(

yes I do home health I was trying to let you know that I do not do visits. I have done them for other agencies but this agency uses RN's for the visits. I usually work 8 to 10 hr shifts and by the why I write my own schedule.

Well, I am an LPN working as a School Nurse in South Carolina and we make $11.04 an hour and get paid for 190 days. I also work at a LTC facility and make $12.50 hour and $14.50 on weekends, but when I came out of nursing school 8 years ago I started at at little over $9.00 an hour. Hope this helps. We don't make much as a school nurse but the job is rewarding. :D

Hi Irene, read your submission. I've been an LPN 8 years always lived in the cincinnati surrounding area. Started at $14.10 hr but the average starting pay here now is $17.50, I currently am at a little over $20 hr. Jenn
