Perhaps this is a better picture of what the original poster was talking about?http://www.dickiesmedical.com/image..._data/13102.gif

Yes, that IS her stomach. Ugh.

yikes! what happens when she bends over? half her back shows? besides looking unprofessional, so not like a nurse....she'd get cold! leaning over a bed, patient, etc, her stomach could touch something gross/wet/etc. yuck. she looks more interested in clubbing than in looking professional.

when you choose a job, you are also choosing that jobs dress code. you dont get a job at mcdonalds and wear low rise black pants and a tight mickey d's shirt, or wear yoru visor backwards! when you get a job at the hospital, you should know that there is a dress code. and if any dress code allows that....

anyways, i used to work at a pizza place. even for those who didn't touch food, had to wear khaki pants, tucked in shirts (unless pregnant), hair up, hats on, nametag on.

men had to be neatly shaven, no facial piercings, no abnormally colored hair. my store got wrote up once b/c i had green streaks in my hair. (this was many years ago).

why are pizza delivery drivers looking more professional than nurses?

(and, for the record, i am a young almost-nurse(graduate in may, am 23 years old)

add on to my opinion-

as long as tummy/butt/etc doesn't show when reaching, bending, and especially, when standing still doing nothing, i dont give a hoot how low the pants are.

Personally l like the lowrise pants with the flares at work. I see no problem with the flares, I think there stylish and there is noting un professional about flared pants. On the other hand. I have seen those croped scrub tops warn with the lowrise pants, and THAT looks bad. I wear them both, but with the lowrise pants I wear a long scrub top, and with the cropped tops I wear longer waisted pants. I think those clothes are just fine, just as long as your tummy aint showing.

Whoa, whoa where are you all finding these "low riding" scrubs? All of my scrubs must be folded over three times or they'd reach my neck! I feel like I constantly have an unsightly buldge around my waist! I'd love to get some of these low-riders so they actually be normal-riders (LOL) on me!

Where are the managers to tell these people to go home and change their clothes? I would fire them if they showed up for work like bums and sluts!

Maybe the managers are handling real issues involving things like patient care and don't have time to go around and ask everyone to lift up their scrub top so they can examine how high their scrubs waistline is. How high does my scrubs elastic waistband have to be so I too am not labeled a man slut.

i think that if you are unprofessional you are lowering the standards for the rest of the staff....if your wedgy undies show under your pants you are not professional...believe me..i have seen them worn .. the nurses felt like they were 'with it' and the reaction they got from other nurses pleased them more than anything...they look like that girl on that old 'becker ' show

Image, image, image...what are you trying to project? Professional? or Sexy kitten?...you decide. I like nicely dressed gals just like the next guy, HOWEVER...sexy attire has no place in the nursing arena, especially when dealing with patients. Call me a traditionalist, I don't care. One's sexiness or availablity is not the image to project...in a bar, maybe. But, not as a nurse on the clock.

It was stated in an earlier post that there are students at clinicals guilty of this also - THAT is what really blows my mind! Aren't they graded on a professional appearance in clinicals as part of their overall grade?

Here they would be sent home as soon as they showed up!Where are the instructors? Why didn't they put a stop to it immediately?

We had to purchase our scrubs through the school, each identical to all the others so that isn't a problem for us.

Same here. VERY specific about our appearance for our clinicals - our tops even have to be embroidered a specific way with the name of the school on them.

Also, YES nurses have tried to get away from the "sex kitten" image! It's scary how many male persons have made lewd comments about the "nursing outfit" when I mention why I am in school. Gee aren't they disappointed to find out that I (and the other students) will be wearing "regular" white scrubs! As for after school, I have a lot of "cute" scrub tops and pants that are CUT APPROPRIATELY.

And BTW, I won't wear anything but drawstring pants either (elastics are so uncomfortable), but they aren't so low that my top doesn't cover me up - regardless of what I am doing!

I would never wear a peekaboo thong.

Um, serious question here: _I_ wear thong panties like EVERY DAY - not because I am some "sex kitten," but because frankly I think they are a heck of a lot more comfortable than pulling bunched up underwear out of my crack all day! I DON'T let them "hang out" of the top of my pants, and I usually wear boring cotton ones that match the color of my pants (no "leopard" ones or anything). Am I going to have to wear the "bunched up" panties? PLEEEASE say no! My scrub top covers my behind, so that should make it okay, right? And I wear white cotton (thong) panties with white scrubs.... seriously, does anyone have input? I don't want to look slutty and unprofessional, but on the other hand, I am able to focus a LOT better on the tasks at hand if my underwear is not bunching and riding up my behind. Feedback?:imbar

They're fine as long as I can't tell what kind of underwear you're wearing through your pants, or peeking out the top of your pants. And that goes for ANY drawers, from thongs to granny panties to boxers. ;)

At my workplace we're supposed to wear khaki pants and polo shirts. I've seen a young CNA wearing low-rise khakis and they were choking her hips--they looked painful.

We used to be allowed to wear khaki shorts in the summer, but another young CNA ruined it for the rest of us by wearing her Daisy Dukes to work.
