looking for some advice

Nurses General Nursing

After graduating from high school in 2007, I attended University of Detroit Mercy. I was doing fine until my first semester of my sophomore year when I realized that I could no longer afford to stay at Mercy. Leaving school was very hard for me :cry:. I was well known on campus for my work in student government and I was also a Resident Advisor in the freshmen residence hall. Currently, I am registered to go to a local community college in the fall where I plan on receiving my associate's degree in nursing. my goal after receiving my ADN, is to return to school to receive my BSN at the University of Michigan. I guess I am writing this post because I would like some words of wisdom to keep me focused and determined on my dream of becoming a nurse. I know what I want to do... I just need a little help getting there.

any advice?

Surround yourself with like-minded people - goal oriented people who find value in what you are doing and cheer you on.

Keep your eye on the prize, no matter what :D

if you are determine to pursue something, even if it means to leave the school you are currently into and think practical, it wouldn't stand in the way.. You have a dream and a goal. Yes, you did something great in that school, but who knows if you there's something greater waiting for you in the local college.. You have to think practical nowadays..

You have a goal, To become a nurse. What you have achieved in University of Detroit is nothing compare to what you can have when you become a nurse in a Slowly but Surely way.. Think practical my friend. Practical, and determine... Keep that hopes up..

Getting your ADN will still make you a nurse. You can still get hired onto most hospitals (unless they're all "Rawr, Magnet!!") and all that good stuff when you graduated. I went ADN because that's where there was a spot in my school's program at the time. And with your BSN, you can sometimes even get your work to pay for you to get that, or even a RN to MSN bridge. It's just a different way of getting your RN - longer sometimes, but if your dream is to be a nurse, it's still worth it.

Your 19 yrs old and you cant take it anymore ?

Go back to the accounting office and learn to take it some more.

You think everything is going to be handed to you in life ?

Please don't assume that because I am 19 yrs old that I think things in this world are going to get handed to me. If a person wants to acheive greatness then that person is going to have to work hard for it. It had nothing to do with me taking out a loan but being on a payment plan and in order for me to stay I would have to increase my plan to $390 when it is already at $296/month. When you come from a single parent household it becomes difficult to manage a paym't like this when your parent has other bills to pay.
