1. I have a question. When someone has a laryngectomy (b/c of cancer of the larynx)--they get a larygectomy tube--when the stoma heals up does the tube stay in or do they just have a little hole there? Would they then always have a possible need to do at home suctioning?

I know there are people with permanent trach's and there trach tube's stay in place--right..

I'm in 3rd semester RN and just trying to put everything together. Thanks in advance...
