Lap Choley This Thursday

Hello everyone,

I needed some moral support. I will get to endure the pain of becoming a patient this thursday to have my gallbladder removed. I have been so sick lately. Last sunday I went to the ER with terrible wretching and back, flank, side pain. I had been taking ABX for UTI and was sure i had a kidney stone. they scanned me and did I/O cath which was the most wonderful thing... :crying2: Anyway...my UTI was better except for my nitrates we high. WBC was normal. Usually they are both elevated...right? Anyway...had a Ultrasound and found some polyps but no stones. Then had a HIDA scan and my EF was on 18%. Anyway...I just needed some other sound advice that I'm going to be ok...LOL

Thanks,

Amy

You have my sympathies.........I too am having a procedure (called a laser lithotripsy) to get rid of my enormous kidney stones on the 27th, and having been through it before, I know I'm in for about a week of feeling like crap. :o

Keep your chin up, kiddo......we'll both be OK soon, pain free and ready to go out and tackle the world again. :)

Good luck to you.

I feel your pain. When they finally took my gallbladder out they found 18 stones the size of the first joint on my thumb! Managed to get to keep a few too!!:chuckle Well my kids wanted to see the "rocks Mum grew".

Take it easy for a while and take as long of as your surgeon suggests. You will feel much better.

Seems like this is the week for nurses to become patients. I too am going to be entering the hospital on Thursday for a cardiac catherization and possible stent placement/angioplasty...my 3rd in less than a year.

Oh bother!!!!!

Hope everyone heals nicely and feels better quickly!

Best wishes for all of you.

How did everyones procedures go? My cath went well considering I had two new blockages and required more balloon angioplasty and another stent placement. I feel better already and will be returning to work on Tuesday. This was my 3rd cath in less than a year and my 2nd stent placement. Guess the doc was right when he said I had a VERY aggressive form of heart disease.

Hope everyone else did well.

I know what you mean. I became a "patient" at home. Had my first MS exacerbation in 5 years and lost the ability to move my left leg, foot and toes. I now know what a stroke patient feels like. I did the home IV solumedrol infusions ( nasty stuff, but it worked) and had to actually walk with a walker for the first time. I have all the sympahties in the world for anybody that has to walk with those things. No wonder they take 4 steps in therapy and then say they are tired. I'm doing so much better now and able to walk without the walker. Just feeling the awful effects of the steroids. I now have a whole new perspective on what some of my patients are going through. I think God works in mysterious ways sometimes.

Hope everybody gets well and quick because who will be minding the store when we aren't there (ha,ha)? :Melody:

OK guys....Today is Monday and I had my gallbladder removed last Thursday. I am still feeling nauseated....Is this common to have nausea after the surgery?? It's almost as if I have a reflux type nausea. Any advice would be greatly appreciated......I am miserable.

Thanks, Amy :crying2:
