KAPLAN-NCLEX in San Francisco

Has anyone taken the Kaplan-Nclex Course in San Francisco? How are the instructors? Was it worth the $499.00 fee. Is it a difference in taking online program than the classroom program?

I took the Kaplan Course in San Francisco. I loved the teacher we had, he had the best passing rate, only he stopped teaching it. I'm not sure about the other instructors though.

The classroom usually comes with the online as well. I think the classroom is a good supplement because some of the instructors go over material as it would be on the test. The online is good to get additional textbook material and to take the tests. If you do buy it make sure you try to do all the questions online. To me it was worth, but others may think differently. I mean sometimes it looked like others weren't even paying attention. Some stayed in the class to get the handouts that were given (this teacher was the only one who gave us these handouts).

I would just follow along in the Kaplan book with the online sessions, and I also used Saunders to supplement, because the Kaplan book isn't very thorough.

If the price is too much for you though, I say just go with the online part, at least you'll get material and you will get to practice loads of questions.

Hope that helped a little. Good luck!

I took the Kaplan online. I passed first time with 75 questions. Looking back I wish I only purchased the Q bank though. If you have a saunders book (4th edition) that's all you really need for content. If you did okay in nursing school you just need some basic review of content and PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the application/analysis level. The qbank is pleanty. If you're interested in the kaplan strategy that everyone talks about you can purchase a "kaplan strategy" book that they sell in bookstores for $35 dollars. To be honest, I rarely used their strategy, but it seems to help some people. If you don't want to pay for the q bank, I think the saunders book, the kaplan strategy book, and an Assesment and Delegation book (people talk a lot about this book on this forum) would prepare you well. All 3 books together are oonly about $100.

LUVNURSING2008, i took KAPLAN. Like RNLola035 stated KAPLAN has good supplemental/content material, practice questions and a textbook which was not too thorough. The classroom course was fun because the instructor interacted with us and gave us immediate feedback. I did all the questions they provided online. But I didnt go over their content review and when i did the questions i sorta skipped over the questions i got right without reviewing why i got them right and why the wrong answers were wrong. I feel maybe i should of committed myself to using all the supplemental materials. And i felt l should of took the questions twice till I raised my scores. It was an alright program but maybe i should of just used what everyone else seemed to use: Saunders.

For anyone who used saunders, any studying tips?

Thanks for everyone responses. They are helping me to determine what I should do. Thanks again!
