We lost a wonderful nurse this past week, way before what all of her friends/family/co-workers think was her time. We constantly take care of others, yet always put ourselves last, or in some cases, refuse to get the help that we need. While we can help others shift after shift after shift, we need to remember that we need to be taken care of as well. I know that times are hard right now, it's the holidays, etc, but if you are sick, please go get checked out. If you are in trouble, please don't be too proud to ask for help. There are plenty of us who love you and who will help you in any way that we can.

I express my deep condolences for the loss of the nurse that you have described.

Yes, it is of the utmost importance to take care of oneself. None of us really knows how much time we have left on earth, so it is imperative that we make the most of the time we have. Tell a loved one that you truly love them today. Make sure that you have no regrets.

Thank you for the reminder. I know this is true for me. I have a very hard time making myself take a lunch break when the patient needs something. Messes with my blood sugar tremendously.

Condolences on the loss or your friend.
