Job abandonment in NJ

Hello, My name is Steven, I am a nurse in NJ. I'm actually writing this for my wife, who is also a nurse in NJ. She just quit a horrible job at a nursing home/acute rehab. She didn't go in to work but called out from home. The boss called later today to say she was reporting her for job abandonment if she didn't come in tomorrow.'

This job is killing my wife, she is sooo miserable!! From what I've read I don't think this is job abandonment. I read over the state regs and they were pretty vague. Does anyone from NJ have any advice in this. Any advice would be appreciated.

The boss is trying to psych your wife. If she never accepted the assignment (called in) she cannot be accused of abandonment.

I would call your BON and see what they say. Its probably not patient abandonment since she didn't accept an assignment.

Job abandonment? Yes.

Patient abandonment? No.

Her license is fine.
