Interview at Mayo Clinic MN

I have a skype interview next week for a PCU cardiac transplant floor next week for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. I have six months experience on a heavy med/surg floor that I plan on basing my answers for behavior questions but can anyone provide any other advise. I will be relocating from FL to MN so I don't know the city too well and would love any insight/living as I have only seen the minneapolis area. I know FL and MN is a big difference but I can't pass up what I think would be such a good opportunity. Any RN's working at mayo that can share what it's like there?

Minnesota and Florida are opposites as far as weather goes. Rochester it a great city. There is a lot of shopping around there. I would say it is very cosmopolitan as they have physicians from around the world as well as those who come to train there or get further education. They also serve people from around the world. Rochester is about 2 hours from the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) and very easy drive to The Cities. Can't comment on housing there. The Mayo Health System is a major employer in the area. There are 2 hospitals as well as the clinic buildings associated with their System in Rochester.

I have only been a patient there for my cancer treatment. As a patient, I appreciated the care I received, both inpatient and outpatient.

I am from the twin cities but have been to Rochester and it seems like a great place! If you are curious about the cost of housing, look at realtor.com and put in Rochester. Rochester is a very up to date place...not a small town. My nurse friends who have worked in Minnesota and then moved to work in other parts of the country always felt that Minnesota had the best healthcare has to offer. Good luck!
