I want to get out of the OR

I currently work in the OR and the recovery room (one week in each area) and have just over 1.5years experience as an RN. I finished my perioperative graduate/residency program in February of this year (I rotated through scrub/scout, anaesthetics and recovery). Whilst in nursing school, all I wanted to do was work in the OR thanks to a very positive student placement. As soon as my graduate program finished, I kind of lost interest in working in theatre. I felt like I had ticked it off my list” and wanted something more.

Its now September and I still feel this way. I really love working in recovery and learning about airway management. Unfortunately in my hospital it is basically impossible for those of us who have done the graduate program to just work in one area, so I have zero chance of dropping scrub/scout. I worry most about getting pigeonholed” with working in theatre and loosing skills.

Do you think that I would still be likely to be hired in other areas outside of the OR?
