I need advice please! Urgent.

Nurses General Nursing

Hi everyone! I need on advice on what way to go to become a Registered Nurse. I am based in the Chicago area and want to stay around here for nursing school ( family house is here).

A little background about me.

Please keep in mind that I graduated in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree (Community Health Education) with a GPA of 2.94. I thought of applying to the accelerated nursing program right after but I decided to pursue a Master of Public Health degree (MPH - I love it so far). I will be graduating next year (May 2017) and so far I have a 3.89 GPA.

My MPH degree is 80% sponsored, so I barely have any loans taken out for grad school. However in undergrad, I believe I am in debt of 29k (not worried)

NOTE: I am trying to get into the nursing program for FALL 2017.

Although I still have a year left, several nursing schools require different exams. I have to prepare for that before I apply, one year is an ideal time for me.

Most of the deadlines I have seen are in January 2017 (before I complete my MPH).

Questions that need answers :

I want to know what a reasonable route for me to take to become a registered nurse is.

I am not interested in going for an ADN (no offense, I repeat.. no offense).

I have also looked at graduate entry programs, MEPN.. RUSH, UIC, ELMHURST, DEPAUL (I really only have UIC and Rush's pre-req requirements and RUSH only offers MSN)

Accelerated programs I have seen are either not in the chicago area or require a previous nursing certificate. There are two schools that I meet requirements for and is in the chicago area.

In nursing, this would not be considered urgent..

Especially since OP wrote another post regarding entry to a nursing program in December of *2014*. So not even a new idea...

but its urgent to me. thank you!

Why not do a Google search yourself (no offense... I repeat, no offense) on the different programs in your area or the areas you are fine with commuting to?

Or instead of Google, check the BON website for approved programs and ACEN and CCNE for accredited programs?

  • (of a state or situation) requiring immediate action or attention.

Sorry, but this is in no way truly urgent. You are planning for something over a year away. You have plenty of time to research.

Or instead of Google, check the BON website for approved programs and ACEN and CCNE for accredited programs?

Google is way more fun and easier to navigate. The BON is too accurate and has way too much important information on one website. This matter is urgent and don't know if OP wants to waste time.

OP, if you are about to get your MPH, why do you want to become an RN?

Far, because it is faster to the destination on a flight with layovers than a non-stop flight. Keep up girl!

Hahahahahaha!

I do want to know.

Is the MPH useless without an RN?

Or, OP, do you want a career change?

So you will have two degrees you don't plan on using and want a third? How do you know you will even like nursing? It's not a fly by the seat of your pants decision, let alone an urgent decision. You need to stop making "urgent" decisions and actually think things through.
