How many miles/minutes do you drive to work?

The title says it all! How many miles are you from work, and how long does it take you to drive there?

I work 4 miles from my home, which is about 10 mins or so through downtown, and 11 stoplights, so sometimes longer than 10 mins. I just happen to live near a large hospital. i would not be opposed to driving for a good job, and am actually considering a job that is a 45 minute drive from here.

I used to drive 30 miles one way, five days a week, through a major city with lots of interstate traffic. In the morning I could leave early enough to get there in about 45 min, but in the afternoon it was awful. I could drive anywhere from 45 min to 2 hours, usually more than an hour. The reason I left that job was because of the commute. After six years enough was enough.

Then I took a job 13 miles from home and it takes about 30 min one way. It's not on the interstate. I worked three 12-hr shifts for that job.

Now I'm at a job that is 33 miles away, but on the interstate and going in the opposite direction of traffic.

I can't imagine working a job close to home. It would be wonderful. I listen to audio books in the car, so that makes my drive very enjoyable.

It takes me about 1 hour, 15 minutes to get to work. More if there's been an accident. In that case all bets are off.

There really aren't very good jobs that pay well at all close to home. Now that I'm back to bedside in ER, it's only 3 days a week. I've done commutes like this for years so I'm used to it.

I'm about 22/23 miles away (depending on which sidestreets I take) - mostly interstate driving though, takes me around 25-30 minutes (depending on stop lights on the sidestreets)

I drive 13 miles one way and it takes anywhere from 20-30min. One of the perks of night shift not too much traffic. In the AM traffic is going the opposite direction! :yeah:

I walk actually. I have the blessing/curse of living 4 doors down from the facility I work at.

I work 8 minutes from home and love it!!. I have considered other jobs that would be far away, 45 minutes, but at the end of the day, working close to home is a perk I will have a hard time giving up. With the price of gas and wear and tear on my car, I figure it is a $2000.00/year benefit.
