Before you rush off to the pharmacy to get meds filled with side effects, what are some natural grandma remedies do you know of...please share. I'll go first.

For Arthritis pain:

  1. Take a box of golden raisins. (note: they must be the golden variety, sometimes called white raisins, not ordinary black raisins).
  2. Place the raisins in a shallow container.
  3. Cover the raisins with gin.
  4. Let the raisins soak in the gin for a few weeks until the gin evaporates.
  5. You then eat nine of these drunken raisins a day to help your arthritis.

My mom and I use this remedy all the time and it works.

Chicken noodle soup for colds :)

Ginger tea for nausea... hate the taste, so that proves it works...if not it'd make me worse.

4. let the raisins soak in the gin for a few weeks until the gin evaporates.

nevermind waiting a few wks.

i'm thinking a few swigs from a gin bottle, will help arthritic pain almost immediately.:)

Briney salt water for a sore throat or toothache (everyone should know this one). Take a small glass of lukewarm water (8-12 oz), add 2 tablespoons or so of salt. Stir it well. Gargle with it (swish for a toothache). It helps relieve the symptoms for a little while.

Also, for an acidy or upset stomach, put a small amount (teaspoon) of baking soda in a small cup of water. Stir. Drink it down. Enjoy the burps. Wait for a few minutes. If the acid stomach is still bothering you, repeat.

Clove of garlic (must be raw, not cooked)

Is a Natural antibiotic

I have rid myself of bugs by chewing (has to be raw) garlic with toast.

Works like a charm.

One time when i had an infection in my lungs I chewed some raw garlic with coffee; interestingly the taste resembled that of chocolate. My sputum went from green to yellow to tan to clear...

Mint tea for nausea

Renal Colic- A few months ago i drank 20ml of olive oil and 60ml of lemon juice. Within an hour, 5 kidney stones traveled from my kidney to my bladder, without the severe pain one could naturally expect! One of the stones was 1.5 cm, which would ordinarily land someone in the hospital on a morphine drip. It was quite an amazing remedy, but i only thought i had one stone, and then five dislodged, so approach with caution. If you ever use this, know how many stones you have in advance, and i would only recommend it for excruciating pain. It certainly worked quite well, as the movement down the ureters produced almost no pain at all!:)

Fennel Tea - for upset stomach. Mint Tea - for cramps and bloating. Mud placed on area of bee sting to rid the pain.

( like the first posted said)Chicken soup for colds....... It helps me get over the cold in a day....I love it too

Baking soda paste for bee stings works too! Just mix baking soda with a little bit of water to make the paste and then place it on top of the bee sting.

Vinegar for a sunburn. It takes the fire & heat out of the burn, although it doesn't totally stop it from hurting. Then, I use aloe vera after - I keep a plant just for burns - aloe gel works on kitchen burns too. Just break open the leaf, squeeze out the juice onto the burn and rub it in until dry.
