HIV Resources for HCWs Communicating With Other HCW

Hello everyone,

I am interested in specific Web resources for how to find out if it is legal to give information on a patient's positive HIV status to other providers,hospitals and clinics that my MD is referring the pt to -- for the following states:

Maryland

Washington, DC (particularly DC)

Virginia

I would guess that other providers, in order to effectively treat, need to know a patient's HIV status, but perhaps not all providers need to know. Moreover, we have all heard of cases in which the pt refused to have his or her blood tested after a needle stick. Rather than hash out the pros and cons here, if you know of anything on the web, I would appreciate it if you would post the link.
