Help me decide on a career! RN, DH, Rad or resp

Nurses General Nursing

I have a podiatry degree from the UK, and worked as a pod for 11 years over there. I have lived in TX for 4 years raising my family, my podiatry degree doesn't mean much over here, we are not doctors in the UK, even though we do everything a podiatrist does in the States, without surgery.

I have a lot of great people skills, organizational skills, a very steady hand, I like to work under my own authority, because that is what I am used to, but I play well with others too!

I have just started on my pre reqs, math and english, and I am having trouble deciding which way to go.

should I be an RN - I know I would make a good one, but I have two small kids, so the hours may not suit family life - also at the rate I am going it would take me 4 years just to get my pre reqs (although I could step it up a notch)

I am also considering dental hygeine - mainly due to the hours and pay, respiratory therapy and radiation tech.

I would love some insight into any of these careers!

Why don't you look for people willing to let you shadow them in those fields you mentioned? Last thing you want to do is waste time and money on education and training for something you regret getting into. Good luck.

I believe it is very important to do a thourough research via the internet, which has a wealth of descriptive information on each profession. If you're lucky, you can speak with individuals whom you know that practice within these professions currently and gain some insight. The best thing to do is follow your heart because no matter what advice anyone gives you, you're the one who has to live with the decision.

good luck on your career choice..
