Have you met your husband at nursing? Is nursing a good career to meet men?

No this is not my reason for entering.

Just a curious question.

And if so... Do tell.

No. Work is work. If you are lucky to meet a special someone or even make some wonderful friends, that's just great. But I certainly wouldn't go out of my way for either while at work.

Yes, like any other place where one spends lots of times with other people one can meet that special someone. I'm not particularly fond of work place romantic ventures tho, the old saying "Don't **** where you eat" comes to mind :D

My husband and I met while we were both working at the same hospital. He's not a nurse.

We were both on the hospital bowling league, and he had a few friends on my team. He became intrigued by the one who had the lowest average in the league.

Yep, my husband and I met because I couldn't bowl for crap lol.

When I was single, it was almost frustrating lot little interaction I had with men because work. I would be like,"theres nobody here thats available either, AND i work all these crazy hours and can't ever meet anybody!"

I have, however, met some of my best (girl) friends at work. So that's cool.

Given the massively small women to men ratio in nursing (500:1 would not be an exaggeration), I cannot imagine any woman hoping/expecting to meet a male nurse and become romantically involved.

As far as meeting male residents/MD's, well, have at it. In my experience, those folks are mostly already romantically involved and just want to play around on the side.

I've always heard it as don't get your sex where you get your checks.

Would I be open to meeting someone at work? Sure, just like I'd be open to meeting someone pretty much anywhere.

Would I go looking at work? Heck no! Too close for comfort- couples who spend so much time together just strikes me as weird. You still need time to be an individual away from your spouse.

Why do people assume NURSING is THE place to meet men????

Well, for the most part, it's not.

None of the men I meet would be marriage material even if I WERE single.

Specializes in Critical Care.

I've never actually dated another nurse dude but I think it could be nice having someone to truly understand your struggles.

I would not enjoy their constant presence at my work place however. Sounds like a bad episode from the Twilight Zone.

Perpetually doing peri care on strangers with your hubby. Doing chest compressions with your hubby. Placing NG tubes with your hubby. Seeing your hubby at 5am. 11am. 2pm. 5pm and 9pm. 😕 no... thanks.

Edit: OK at least ONE code with your soulmate sounds romantic in a nursey way.

I did meet my last husband at work. After all, that is where I spent the majority of my time.

He was a nurse,I was also dating a doctor, a lot of male patients asked me out.

You will meet a lot of men in nursing, you will also meet a lot of men at the grocery store.
