Nurses General Nursing

I've been having some flank pain for a month or so, and I went in for an ultrasound. The technician was kind of gruff at first. Then as she was looking at the screen she asked me when I had my last period, and I noticed her mood change as she finished the procedure and she started treating me really nice and talking to me like you talk to someone you feel really sorry for...

I know she saw something on that screen that didn't look good. Of course, she "couldn't" tell me anything, but then again, she didn't have to.

I don't even feel like doing anything now.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the doctor's office to get the report?

When did you have this done?? It shouldn't take that long to get a report about an ultrasound. Call the doc's office now and see if you can find something out.

(hugs) I don't know how long it usually takes for them to get back to you, but I'm hoping that you were just being a nurse and reading too much into her words and expressions.

The time I had an US where something was wrong, (I was pg), they told me before I left the office. They had to get my OB on the phone to tell me, but they didn't keep me waiting.

Take care and try not to worry til you're given something to worry about. Easier said than done, I know. (hug)

It's bunk when it takes weeks to get reports back- when I worked ER, we could get a report back in an hour or less. Call and bug them until they LISTEN.

I hope it was nothing. (hug)

I had it done this morning. I already called the OB/GYN office (right across the street) and they told me to call the hospital.

I can see why you feel scared, I would too. These techs know a lot, but they aren't able to officially say anything. Gee, Golytely, let us know! I felt so nervous waiting for a test once, but it turned out negative!

Hang in there Golytely, it will be okay. I am surprised the office told you to call the hospital. You are the patient in this case, THEY should be calling the hospital to expedite getting your results. That is their responsibility, not yours as the patient. Good luck.:redbeathe

Well what you need to do is follow up until you get answers. Don't let things go til you know what is up.

I had one done in November and got my results within a week. Good luck!

Yeah, keep after 'em 'til they produce the report. I'd push on your doc a bit more, too.

I'm sorry for the stress that you're having to undergo while you wait. The waiting for results has usually been the hardest part for me.

I hope it's all minor and easily treatable.

if you dont get answers from the doc.....try med records tomorrow......good lluck
