Going insane waiting on a call back

I had an interview on Tuesday of last week that I thought went really well. The nurse manager seemed really impressed with me even though I have only been a nurse for 5 months.

She introduced me to everyone working on the floor and told everyone of them I am currently working on my BSN (which I thought meant she was impressed with that). She even said that she encourages all her nurses to go back to school and was so proud that I was doing so.

At the end of the interview, she told me that she would want me to come back to meet with the staff on night shift (the shift I would be working) and the she would be in touch after Thanksgiving. She said and put emphasis on "you WILL hear from me after Thanksgiving."

So here I am thinking that I possibly have the job.....so its a week later (and after Thanksgiving)....and no call! I'm going to go insane if I check my phone one more time to make sure that I didn't miss a call! Do you think I read to much into the interview? Should I call her? If so, what should I say? Thanks in advance.

Call! Simply say that you are following up on an interview you had last week. Good Luck!

Thanksgiving was Thursday, she might have been off Friday, and then there was the weekend, so today is really only the second day after Thanksgiving.

I wouldn't panic yet. If you call, sound relaxed and don't suggest that she's late in calling you. Say you wanted to follow up and see about meeting the night shift staff.

Oh yeah. Manager surely had the whole weekend off and hasn't gotten to it yet. Either way, I agree that you should call. Good advice from hiddencatRN!

You could always call and say "Thank you for the interview". It will allow them to know that you were glad for the interview, as well asking about the timeline for hiring.

Same thing happened to me ( but it was a few months ago), she kept telling me that I WILL get a call back for a second interview, I waited a week never heard from her called her a few times, I had even sent a thank you letter for the interview the same day of the interview. I never did get a call back or a thanks but no thanks letter.

But call it never hurts, hope all goes well for you good luck

I went through the same thing and was going nuts myself. Sometimes unexpected things happen. Maybe she came down with something nasty or had a family emergency. Weird things happen.

I would call tomorrow and try and get a hold of her. It shows initiative and managers tend to love that.

This was put perfectly. Call on Friday if you haven't heard back by then, then follow the advice above on how to call.

I could not wait.

Take the initiative and call her. If you just get her voicemail, leave a message with ur details, saying u will call the next day. Don't let the opportunity of a position pass you by. when u do speak 2 her, say: I thought the interview went very well, have u made a decision, then say ur available to start immediately. Sound pleasant, polite and enthusiastic.

I have done this in the past and it has always worked out for me. If they keep fobbing u off, still apply for everything and anything (any job) to keep u busy.

Some people say to wait, etc, but if she said she's going to call u by a certain date/time and hasn't, it is better I think to take the initiative.

Hope u get it!
