i have beeen thinking about taking on a fulltime job(hospital) and still going to school full time while completing my pre-reqs. i am beginning to seek emloyment as a CNA at a hospital but i have only been certified for about a month and i dont have any experience working in a hospital. should i go for it( the job and full time work)? i can really use it(full time job) because i need to move very soon. my pre-reqs arent tuff at all, i mean i get by with B's without doing any harsh studying. my plan is to go to school from 8am-12noon, the position is for 3pm-1130pm, am i going in over my head or should i at least give it a try?

Only you can really determine if you can handle it, and if you feel you can then I say...GO FOR IT! I worked in a small hospital as a CNA and I got lots of learning experience I was able to coorelate with my schooling. Good luck!! :)

What greer said. Only you know if you can handle it. When are you going to study? When are you going to sleep? How important is your relationships, your social life?
As far as having no experience, don't worry about that. You'll get plenty of that!
i still have the weekends and all nighters......

Good luck if you try it. But prepare yourself, because it's not going to be easy...

If you really need the money, it's not the worst thing in the world to work full time. However, are you really satisfied with just getting by with B's? You should be setting your standards higher. Being responsible for the health of other people is a big responsibility. Being a nurse means committing yourself to doing your best -- not being satisfied with B's when a little work would earn you A's.

I'd say go for it & if the going get too tough think of the end result. I did it & you can too. Good luck.

Have you thought about part time and just picking up more time as needed/wanted? There will times you need more time to study or write papers etc. Most hospitals are so short you can pick up time easily when and if you want it. Gives you more flexibiltiy.

Give it a try and see how you feel, it'll be a good way to bank some money for a semester when you can't handle working very much! Best of luck :)

You are going to burn yourself out. At first it is not bad to work full time and go to school full time (I did it.) Then I quit my program with 33 units left to go. (I had gone back to school to get my BSN). I agree with CCL babe above--work part time, pick up work as you are able. And, most important of all, schedule some fun in your life in addition to what is required for work and school.
