Forgot to write end of shift notes.

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi everyone, Im a New grad nurse on my last week of orientation by week 3 working solo and at the end of my shift one of my pts was at CT. Of course, the notes always go with the patient so if the patient is gone at the end of the shift we usually just grab a piece of paper, stick a patient ID label to it and write the notes on that, then leave it on the whiteboard for the next nurse when the patient comes back. Of course I gave a verbal handover of the patient to the nurse starting but when I got home I realised I had forgotten their notes even though I had done everyone else's . In the notes we don't write medications or vital signs, that is electronic and done at the bedside but we always write a end of shift note in the patients notes. I'm just stressed out that I've done something really bad by forgetting to do the notes and I'm not due back for 3 days so i can't even put the notes in the morning. Has anyone else forgotten to do this? Sorry everyone, I only seem to write anything when I'm worried!
