FNP Prospect in Austin Tx

Dear fellow nurses,

I am currently living in Raleigh NC and have applied to the FNP program at Duke. My husband and I are looking to move to Austin, Tx in 1 1/2 year after he graduates from his criminal justice degree primarily because of Austin PD's great pay and benefits for cops and how awesome the city is. Austin has many things that we prefer over Raleigh (except traffic); however, it appears that it is not such a great place for NPs (saturated markets, low pay, etc) from what I have read so far.

My husband is really hoping to move there to begin a great career in law enforcement; however, I'm a little concern that I might not be able to find a job upon graduation as an FNP because I won't have any connections over there. Staying in Raleigh would be easy for my career since people know me here but Raleigh has very little to offer their cops.

So my question is: is there any hope for a new grad FNP in Austin? Are the pay, working conditions, and job prospects for FNPs that bad? Any insights, thoughts, and ideas would be greatly appreciated!
