Hi!

I'm graduating from my RN ADN program in January and plan to take the NCLEX by February. I'm looking into applying for jobs in my area (Baltimore) and was hoping for some insight as to where you think I should apply for my first RN job.

I do not have experience as a tech... I should have tried getting a tech job over the summer but had some family emergencies pop up that derailed my plan. Now that I'm so close to completing the RN program I've been advised to go ahead and seek an RN position. My lack of experience concerns me in regards to getting hired. I'm looking at various hospitals to apply to, but where else should I look for an entry-level position?

edit: I know the ADN aspect doesn't help (of course my school didn't tell us that till the end of our program) but I'm planning to start an RN to BSN program next fall so hopefully that will work in my favor!

Understand many hospitals will not hire ADN. Focus your effort on hospital that will hire ADN to reduce frustration

Thank you @atl-Murse-wannabe ! Yea I know the ADN isn't helping (I wish my school had mentioned that to us when we were starting) but I'm planning to start an RN to BSN program next fall so hopefully that will help! Would love get a job in the meantime :)

I'm graduating from my RN ADN program in January and plan to take the NCLEX by February.

When do you graduate in January? It takes a minimum of 3-4 weeks to get your ATT, then you need to schedule a test date. There will be many other graduates that will be taking the test around that same time. I don't think you will be able to take NCLEX by February.

If the online application asks you "Do you have the required license for this job?" It will reject your application since you don't have your license. You would have to wait until after you pass NCLEX to apply to those hospitals.

I'm actually done with classes mid December and our pinning ceremony is January 6th. For whatever reason my instructors advised us to start applying for jobs now even though we're not taking the Nclex until Feb or later... hmm maybe it's too early, I don't know. I feel like my school hasn't really been very informative in regards to the whole application process/getting a job :(
