Do you always state that you are a nurse?

  1. Curious....

If you accompany a family or friend for any kind of treatment do you state that you are a nurse? How about if you are getting treated?

Nope - not unless asked. However, the way I talk usually gives me away - lol!

I don't mention it. I don't want them to think I'm watching them, when I really am.. hahaha...

No, but I think nurses can spot each other a mile away. I had a family member hospitalized recently and within 20 minutes of being in the room I was asked if I was a nurse.

I don't mention it, but if I accompany my mom or brother to their appts, or anywhere else, they ALWAYS tell everyone what I do I know they're proud, so I try not to get too upset...

    Nope, I don't tell.

I've been asked three or four times now if I'm a pharmacist, when I'm a patient or with a friend or relative at a hospital. Nobody's ever asked if I'm a nurse. (Of course, I'm not, yet!).

It must be how I discuss medications...?

It is nearly impossible to put the geenie back in the bottle and speak 'civilian' isn't it?

I usually don't, but people always guess when we start talking...and if I'm with my mom she ALWAYS tells everyone 'This is my daughter the nurse!' lol I don't mind though. I'm proud of what I do and I know she is too.
