Have been trying to conceive for a little over a year. Have been told my eggs and his swimmers are ok. Anyone else take awhile to get pregnant? What did u do to help? Drugs? stand on ur head after???LOL:bugeyes:

Well when I was having difficulty getting pregnant, my DH went out and paid 200.00 for for a clearplan fertility monitor and guess what??? It worked, I was pregnant the very next month after using it, even though prior to getting the monitor, I had been trying for at least a year or more to get pregnant. The key to using it, is to use it twice a day, even though they say you should test with the first morning's urine. When I found out I was ovulating, I had used it in the wee hours of the morning. When the machine said I was at my peak, I woke my DH, we did the deed, 2 weeks later I took the pregnancy test even though I was not having any symptoms, and sure enough, I was pregnant. It was well worth the 200.00 investment and my beautiful 5 year old son is living proof of this.

We tried for years and nothing happened. We started the fertility route but Hubs just wasn't comfortable with it so we never went beyond the initial blood tests.

Four years later I truly and completely, in my soul, gave up. I came to grips with the knowledge that I would never have a baby of my own.

Three months later I conceived, on my next cycle.

I have heard that same story from so many couples who are trying so hard to get pregnant. It seems that once they give up all of a sudden here comes a baby!

I wonder if it has to do with stress levels.

I also know of a few couples who tried for a few years and then got pregnant as soon as they left the city and started relaxing. One went on vacation, one was on a book tour, one moved. I guess that is why there is a baby making vacation industry.....

two clomid pregnancies (now grown!) and several years of charts and temperatures, etc.

wish the clearblue monitor was available in 1980!!!:bowingpur

and yes, there seems to be a link between stress (increased serum cortisol) and female infertility....if i can find the article i'll post it.

weisler (i don't think that's right, but close) wrote a book on understanding fertility. it goes into pretty good detail on recognizing what's going on with your body. it's a great book. i'll try to come back with better information :).

it's very informative and i think it should be a required read for all females (and many males).

Ditto the recommendation on Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Fantastic book. Very natural, empowering, body-understanding approach.

I don't know how far you've gone with fertility work-ups but there are further evaluations beyond egg and sperm quality, including progesterone levels, cervical mucus, uterine lining, immune factors, for example. After a year of trying, a further work-up or second opinion might be something to look into.
