Death of a Special Co-Worker

This week we learned that the speech therapist for our unit, Jill drowned while trying to save her 12 year old son from the same. They were down in Costa Rica on vacation. She was a beautiful, charming, graceful young woman with a non stop smile on her face. And a very kind heart. We all loved her dearly. I suppose that for what ever reason her time was done here. I will never understand it. But, we just need a few prayers for her son who is suffering profound grief over the loss of his beloved mother. And we need a few, as her friends as we work through her loss. We have lost her ever present smile and our unit just not the same these days.

I am so sorry, my prayers go out to her family and friends. I really don't know why things like this happen. Life is so unpredictable, we can go at anytime.

I am truly sorry for all of your losses... my heart goes out to her son. We mothers know that we would always give our lives for our children, but so few actually do it. I am fighting back my tears.

Diane.....I'm so sorry......my grandmother died in 1998 and has surely settled in and become heaven's welcome commitee :) I'm sure she got them situated and comfortable and they're free of pain and fear.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I unexpectedly lost my assistant manager of 8 years, and it was very hard. We were all devastated. She was leaving the next day for Vegas, and that was all she had talked about the entire day. She had even went to Kohl's on her lunch break to get a couple new outfits. She went home, packed, got in the shower, and then had a massive MI. :crying2: This was 6 years ago; it still hurts, and we all miss her very much.

I know what you are going through, and will be praying for you, your coworkers, and for the family of Jill.

My sincere condolences. I'm sure you'll find, as my coworkers and I have, that the best way to honor someone like her and keep her alive on your unit is to emulate all that you admired about her. Which can be a tough thing to live up to, at times, and is probably what makes it worth doing.
