Dating another RN?

I appologize - Im sure this topic has been beaten to death.

I am taking classes for my position when I met another RN. We talked a lot and seemed to really hit it off. He asked me out and I was delighted. We both work for the same hospital system but at different hospitals and different floors. I couldnt find in our manual except no relations with anyone whom you have authority over.

I *think* it is okay with our facility if we date but Im not sure. I thought I would ask here since I am unable to ask a manager until later this week.

Thanks:redbeathe

It's totally up to the facility. At every place I've worked, it's fine as long as one is not in a position of authority over the other. At some facilities, you cannot work on the same unit, but I know of one facility that didn't care.

I wouldn't bring it up at all to any manager. It's your life outside of work and it's none of their business. It took several weeks before my coworkers realized my wife and I work together in the same facility because we didn't tell anyone.

I am married to another nurse and we both work in the same facility, just in different units. We have been floated to the same floor before. Never an issue.

I wouldn't see it was a problem as long as one of you isn't in a position of management over the other.

I've only dated another nurse one time, a fellow night shift ED nurse. I think our personalities were too similar, and I'd compare our arguments to "when an unstoppable force hits an unmovable object."

Oh geez. It doesn't matter. You work for two seperate hospitals. Not even the same facility, so no chance you would even see each other at work. My nurse manager is dating the chief doctor in our ER, they see each other all day at work and not an issue. One nurse is dating a flight medic, they see each other all day, and another nurse is dating a respiratory therapist. Who knows who else is dating who in our ER. I try to stay out of all of it but as you can see, I don't think it's that big of an issue. Especially since you two are not in the same unit or hospital. I wouldn't ask my manager if it's ok, it's your personal life. She won't know unless you tell.
