Criminal History?? UHOH

  1. Embarassed to ask, but I don't know how else to find out. I was charged over 3 years ago with bad checks. Just stupidity and neglect on my behalf. Nothing sense then. I've worked in nursing homes that "supposedly" did criminal background checks and never had a problem. Will this affect becoming licensed as a nurse in Tennessee? Thanks for any info.....

    Hello,

I believe that the only one who can answer your question the best or with certainty is your state board of nursing. You should just give them a friendly call and they should be able to tell you if you have anything to worry about

    Good Luck,

Thanks- Going to look for their # right now. Want to be a nurse bad, will be heart broken if that idiotic episode ruined my chances, but would be devastated if I actually went to nursing school, passed, then couldn't be a nurse! Would like to find out b4 I invest any $$ or time! Thanks again.

The BON in my state will not give out that information. They told me just apply and see we will see what happens, they told me my midemeanor could effect my liscensure. They may tell you where certain charges, namely felonies, will prevnt you from getting a licsense, but not whether a charge will not prevent you. I have a very good friend who is on the liscensing board for health related professions, and works closely with the BON, who informs me that it is extremely unlikely a misdemeanor will keep you from getting a liscense unless you lie about it.
