Hello All,

Thank you for reading my thread, I was just wondering if anyone out there have an advice about something...I am very interested in becoming an RN, but it seems everyone in the NYC wants to be as well so RN programs are so hard to get into. So I am considering going to the Manhattan learning center for LPN, but was wondering if in NYC LPN jobs are easy to come by? Also if anyone knows an average rate of pay for NYC? Also if anyone recently completed the program there and or recently started working, what are your thoughts? Is it worth it? Thank you for all and any help please respond :wink2:

Specializes in taking a break from inpatient psychiatric nursing.

I've heard new LPN's start at about 35k-42k in NYC. Does that sound about right?

Specializes in Community Health, Med-Surg, Home Health.

You are correct in the salary range for us in NYC. I would also consider LaGuardia Community College, Medgar Evers, Nassau Community College and VEEB. Here is the web site with the listings: http://www.op.nysed.gov/nurseprogs-lpn.htm

I say this because the program you are mentioning is very competitive because it is also extremely affordable. Best of luck to you!

I just graduated from Veeb last year. It was the one of the BEST decisions I've ever made in my life. There are soooo many opportunities for nursing, not to mention the mula. If you do the LPN route, you can always bridge into a RN program. Many people are doing this now since the RN wait lists are ridiculous. BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR DECISION!
