They just ran an article on local news saying large amts of Benzene was discovered to be in many soda pops. That is darn scary. If I see an article in local newspaper I will post it. Now as you all know, Benzene is one of the most carsinogenic substances know to man. Maybe second after radiation. The article did say that drinking water is checked all the time for Benzene but up until now no one checked soda. It forms when Vitamin C and another perservative combine to form the Benzene molecule.

Yeah...a while bqck our local news channel ran a segment on this. There were also high levels of Benzene found in these fruit drinks that we give our kids. The government did not make the fruit drink companies publish their Benzene levels or something like that. I think that's how it went. So...I only give my kids staight juice. 100% only and I read the labels. Pretty scary huh?

Whoa. Good to know. My family's diet just changed today. (Not that we are huge soda drinkers, anyway...) THANKS FOR THE INFO!!!!!!

We discussed this in my organic chemistry class this semester. Benzenes were banned. My professor had a collegue who worked with benzenes before they were banned in many products (he was a chemist). She said he died of leukemia. She then told us that benzenes are still present in the waters of some sodas.

Seems like too much of anything will cause cancer...I still feel like if you eat somewhat healthy, work out regularly, and don't smoke or drink, you will be fine and die of whatever God has planned for you :)

My one and only vice is my Mountain Dew if you try and take that away I will surely FREAK OUT!!!

Larry I totally agree with you. It seems like everything causes cancer anymore. I think we should just enjoy life to the fullest. We're on the Lord's timetable anyway so ENJOY!!!!

I completely agree!

Every time I turn on the TV or go on Yahoo or turn on the news there is a new thing that causes cancer.. I can't tell what is true or false anymore!

I sure hope this isn't true! If it is, I am now probably terminal. :rolleyes: But really, maybe this will get me off of the coke-cola. I could probably lose 20lbs. easily if I just stopped drinking so much of the stuff.
