Can i get all of your opinions? Confused

Is it bad for my career to work for a nursing home that has been shut down by the state? Even if i follow everything that i have been taught in school? The facility i work in is not in compliance with state and im looking for another job. I am a new nurse and really could use the advice. I typically have 40 patients and treatments a well as having to babysit the aids that work there. I have no admin backing and the aides think because i am a new nurse that i am a joke and dont listen to me at all with our scheduling coordinators encouragement. She also has hiring and firing authority. I am not allowed overtime and clock out to chart or face he wrath. Which includes screaming at me in front of everyone. She is fully backed by our don and adon. What should i do? Is this normal?

No this is not normal by a long shot!!! This place is nothing but trouble with a capital T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!!!! You should not have to put up with that kind of abuse! You are the charge nurse NOT the staffing co-ordinator, and the DON and Administrator should back you unless there is sufficient reason not to. Jump ship NOW before the state shuts them down PERMANENTLY!!!!!! Good luck, and there are plenty of nursing jobs out there. Don't subject yourself to this torture anymore!!

No, that is not normal at all. If anyone yelled at me in front of other people, well I do not know what I would do. You need to leave that place ASAP. They sound like the type of facility that will try to blame you if something happens.

They can not make you clock out and continue to work. That is just wrong. As far as working for a place like that hurting your career I am not sure. All you can do is put out your resume and try to network with other nurses as much as possible. Good luck and CYA at all cost while looking for another job.

You answered this question yourself. RUN, do NOT walk, RUN out of that place now. This place is toxic. Find another position. No place should be like that. I sure wouldn't want to work somewhere they condone insubordiantion and aren't compliant with state regs.

this type of behavior is not acceptable nor should it be tolerated and sets me on fire. by asking this question, deep down inside you know the answer. how long have you been there? run now while your license and sanity are still intact.

It is not only wrong to make you clock out to chart but illegal as well. I would find another job ASAP then contact an attorney for back pay...if you were to stay the I believe its the NLRB that handles these cases. They are slow but have the authority.

I believe it woukld be a lot worse for your career to remain. I am sure potential employers would admire you for stating your reason for wanting to find a new job is that you just found out that your current place of employment is not accredited & that you wish to work for a reputable institution.

Don't go into the details about clocking out, the abusiveness or the workload. Although these are horrendous practices, potential employers do not like to hear specific complaints. Just generalize and choose your words carefully, like I did above & you shouldn't have a problem finding a new job-Which you should do ASAP!!!

Once you get out of there, report them for your lost wages & to any other authority you can think of. That place should certainly be shut down.
