Can anyone decipher this nursing shorthand?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi,

I have to write up my nursing process form and I did not ask about a couple of terms and cannot find them in my books. What was written was:

"S/P Rt shoulder tendon rcp (rop? hard to read) aiv 1978"

I don't know what rcp and aiv stands for, also:

"S/p orif Rt patella"

What does orif stand for?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

It's probably "status post right shoulder rotator cuff repair in 1978" I have no idea what aiv stands for.

The next one is "open reduction internal fixation right patella"

Don't worry, you get the lingo really quick in your first job.

Good luck.
