Call a waaaaambulance!

  2. Some time ago on this forum, a nurse posted a thread about her insensitive husband who said he didn't feel appreciated. I don't recall the particulars, but basically remember the nurse was fulfilling family and work responsibilities adequately and to the best of her ability.

Farawyn suggested the nurse call a "waaaaambulance" for her husband, hence the above cartoon was born.

Some of us just don't know how good we've got it. This morning after reading an initial post on a thread, I wanted to call a waaaaambulance on a new nurse complaining about their primo job situation.

I've called a waaaaambulance for others. Others have called a waaaaambulance for me.

How about you? When have you had to call a waaaaambulance? Has anyone ever had to call a waaaaambulance for you?

I worked 12 hour MN shifts on geriatric psych with a great LPN, approximately the same age as me, for several years who died about about ten years ago.

We would often get giddy around 0400 and one time, as she was signing her name to patient safety precaution sheets and talking to me, she signed her name "Cynthing". We got quite a laugh out of that one .

This was one instance where Cynthing drove the waaaaambulance to my trauma:

Every. Dang. Day. I call the waaambulance. Sometimes on myself. Thank you for reminding me that life is often absurd and the ability to laugh at yourself is an important life skill.

    You're welcome, ruby_jane!

Being a chronically malcontented neurotic, if I didn't posses the ability to laugh at myself, I would be on the other side of the nurses station sucking the very essence out of some other psych nurse!

My work wife Eleanor is very supportive of me and often drives her waaaaambulance to my drama traumas:

My husband came home form his cushy self-employed job the other day whining that he didn't get a nap that day. Are you kidding me, what! no nap today?!
I definitely called him a waaaambulance that day!

I wanted to call one on every new nurse who complained when she had to work holidays. It wasn't fair because she had kids, and those of us who had missed several holidays with our families should be happy to work for her.

I want to call a wambuance for one of our nurses. She prefers to triage, and is good at triage. Every time she triages yet another incompetent, social misfit with a ridiculous complaint (which is quite frequent), she is totally outraged and has to loudly fill in in all the other nurses, in great detail, about it all.

I'm, like, 'So what else is new?'. Call a wambulance for both her and the patient!!!

I recently moved, and the tech who came to install my internet was from Cuba. We had a good laugh about third-world internet (mine in Afghanistan), illegal internet (what he had in Cuba), and the first world problems associated with "My 1 GB plan is only giving me 800MB downloads!" type complaints that he has to deal with. I am sure he could call the waaaaaambulance all day long. Sometimes we don't know how good we have it.

I called the waaaambulance on myself last week. I was stressing about moving just across town with my husband, our daughter, two cats, and a dog. Then someone I know shared that they are moving across the COUNTRY with teenagers, a toddler, and assorted animals in two different vehicles. That gave me immediate perspective!!!
